Sam graced our hearts and souls with life and music. God bless the bluesman who spread joy and happiness, and welcome him into your home!

Well, what can I say? Another of the great bluesmen has left us. Will there ever be another Sam Myers? Probably not.
Those of us that live in the Dallas, Ft. Worth area are not only losing a friend. We are losing an icon, part of our identity. There is a huge hole out there now where a great bluesman once sat. There is a stool at the Hole in the Wall over by the pool table that will be missing an elderly black man with glasses as thick as coke bottles. There won't be the proverbial Sammy hand wave as Hash Brown walks in the door coming from that corner. And we only have memories now.
It's a very sad day in DFW. God Bless Sam Myers. Rest in Peace. You've earned it.

Back in 1969 I had the privalege of playing drums behind Sam at Pee Wee's Lounge and "house of ill repute". Sam was working at Skilcraft Industries for the Blind and I used to see him cross the street in front of the building on his way home. Of course I did not realize the the significance at the time being 18 years of age. Well Sam, you're truly home now. may God bless you and your loved ones. Thank you for being a mentor as I began learning to play harmonica 30 years ago.

I will remember your music and our brief conversations. I will always remember leading you into the ladies restroom in Charleston. Say hello to Sonny boy, Jimmy, and Big Joe. You will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Sam, was lucky enough to see him at a blues fest in Wheeling, WV. a few years ago with Anson Funderbach. He was helped from and to the stage but was actually able inbetween to go out into the audience and dance with some of the young girls there. I have pics of that and will remember it for a long while.
RIP Sam

REST IN PEACE- SAM
You will be missed deeply by many people. There is a empty space in the bluesworld. You and your music will live on and will not be forgotten.
Thank You so very much for the music and memories.
Peace
