Judi and I are saddened by the death of Sam Myers. Over the years, going back twenty, we took every opportunity to see Sam and Anson play from New Orleans to San Diego.

Sammy was an institution even if he didn't think so. He represents all the beauty and soul of the blues. We always left a show feeling better about the world and filled with the sweet sounds of Sammy Myers and the band.

It pains me to know that never again will we stand and applaud as Sammy came on stage, thrilled to be able to listen to a great and humble man play the blues and fill the air with a transcendant sound that transported all of us to a place where Sammy ruled.

He will rule forever with the music he left behind. Our thoughts are with his family, Anson and the band and all his fans.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sam while working briefly for Hohner. My favorite qoute from Sam went something like this" After all, I am a gentleman" No truer words have ever been spoken.

It was a priviledge and a pleasure to have seen Sam get on stage with Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat couple of years ago. Thank you for a wonderful memory.

Hi there
I am very sorry to hear that Sam passed away last night.
I did a tour with him last year, over here in Scandinavia, that went really well and I still have the Camel cigarettes that Sam gave me when I was running short...
I miss him.
Rest i peace Sam..

The Tao of Sam: "What'll happen tomorrow, it must be...I fixed myself so it won't worry me."

"...everything everything everything is gonna be alright."

"once you grow up, there's nothing left to do but grow old."

Thank you Sam for the countless laughs, boogies and 3 a.m. breakfasts. I spent half my life moving to the the sound of that sweet harmonica. I'm listening to you as I write this with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. You and Anson and the boys are forever a part of the soundtrack of my life and I am so blessed and grateful that I got to see you at the benefit in Dallas. And in the wee wee hours, that's when I'll think of you. Tell Muddy, Howlin' and Stevie Ray the boogie chillun say hey! Love, Andrea Helm, Asheville North Carolina

Sam, thank you for the music and your friendship. You were one of a kind, and the KING of the Blues in my book.
Peace,
