So long Sammy...

We all love you and will miss you terribly - already do. It's so nice to still have you with me on CD's. They sound so perfect right now and I can't help but smile when I listen to them.

God Bless You,

Marcus

You would have been so happy to see all your little family at the services today. Afterwards, in your honor, we all went to Dixie House and had lunch. I have many wonderful memories but the one I would like to share has nothing to do with music. Sam, Mr. Joe Jonas, and I were lunching at Dixie House several months ago, after he got sick, before he got better. Sam was returning to the table after a trip to the restroom and was stopped head-on by a little girl. She was toe to toe with him and climbed her eyes up the legnth of his body and stared at his huge, thick glasses. He introduced himself to her as "Sam". The little girl wasn't afraid of this grumpy guy with thick glasses, she just stared at him in bewilderment. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a crisp one dollar bill and handed it to the little girl. He giggled with delight, yes he giggled. She giggled back. At first she didn't take the dollar, still too fascinated by his thick glasses. Then her mother said,"Sam, that may be the only woman you know that won't take your money". He just giggled and did his little back-side-hand wave and tottered back to our table. He loved to talk about how that little girl looked at him and how she wasn't scared of him. You will probably hear that he could be a crumundgeony ol rascal.....and that is true. But he always knew how to take care of his girls. We will miss you Mr. Myers. I love you, Marcy

I just left saying goodbye to Sam. I'm so sad that I'll never again get to hear him say "This song is for my friend, Mississippi Teri". Sam gave me that nickname many years ago while we were swapping tales of life in MS and his days of running moonshine and all the other wonderful stories Sam would tell. I'm just happy to know that now he's singing away up in blues heaven. I loved you, Sam and always will. Teri

Sam,
Twice we spoke, once at Poor David's and once at Leon's. The stories you told me will stay with me forever. I hate that I never got to see that donkey lighter you spoke of but the kindness you had and the music you gave all of us will out last even the youngest fan. Until we meet again....
Thank you and God bless
