We can't believe we're never gonna hear that baritone voice rumble, "Look on yonder's wall, hand me down my waaaaalkin' cane," ever again.
We can't believe you won't be there at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, with your best buddy Anson, making us all laugh as you tell us a story that verges on the edge of risque, ever again.
We can't believe we won't see you pull a harp from that trademark bandolier of yours and play a sweet solo, ever again.
We can't believe we won't see you take a cigarette from a silver cigarette case and light one up while casually reeling off a hilarious anecdote, ever again.
We can't believe we won't have the privilege of following you on to three (count 'em) different land masses (Europe, Britain, USA) in the space of a couple of weeks to see you play, ever again.
We can't believe we won't get another opportunity to hear you play and sing, ever again.
We can't believe a dear friend, a giant (in more ways than one) of the blues, has gone to the great gig in the sky.
Thanks for everything, Sam. It was a privilege to know you. We loved every minute we ever spent with you and loved all the great performances we had the good fortune to see you make with Anson and the Rockets.
If they've got a good whiskey wherever you are now, have one on us, Amigo!

Cher Sam
Je suis très attristé de te savoir parti. Par contre je suis heureux de t'avoir rencontré et surtout d'avoir connu ta musique.Toi et Anson furent parmi ce que j'ai vu de mieux en blues ''live''. I shall never forget you and your music. Now back to the records everybody. Sincères condoléances. Say hello to Clifford.
Love,
Serge

Thank you Sam for all the great music, the great advice, and the great stories. Thanks for the calls to KNON during my show with insider information about a song or recording. And special thanks for letting me play guitar behind you that one time. You normally work with the best of the best but you were kind to me that night. I am honored to have met you and am one of a great many people who will always remember you. Godspeed Sam Myers.

A great mentor and a friend, Sam will truly be missed.
I'd like to share one of my fondest memories of Sam. After a particularly bad day, I showed up at the old Greenville Bar and Grill depressed and downbeat about the world - Sam could hear it in my voice. In his best "blues wisdom" voice, he told me that whenever you're feeling blue, you can always come home to your second family in the blues. To all the great musicians in Dallas and others around the world, Sam truly was part of the family.
We'll miss you, Sam

It's always sad to see a bluesman disappear. I makes think that even the greats are only human beings. So long Sam, you must be jamming with Muddy, T. Bone and the others, now...
