 Sam, It was such a pleasure to get to meet you while you stayed with us in the hospital. I was the voice in the box that always answered your call light. You reminded me alot of my grandfather who was also trached and could not talk. I remember when we put real clothes on you for the first time in a very long time. You looked GREAT in those PJ's all ready for your company! I was so happy to see you go home the day you left. I am sorry I didnt get to see you Thursday when you came up to bring the cards for everyone. I would have liked to give you a great big HUG! You were a sweet man with many good friends who took wonderful care of you. Vickey, Jeff, and all the others thank you for being so kind to Sam during his life. I truly believe you all are angels.

Working with Sam on his "Coming From The Old School" was a dream project. The fact that he was truly proud and happy with the results was what counted most, that the CD was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award was just icing on the cake. Sam was a true gentleman and a Blues Legend of the first degree.The world is a lesser place without him in it.

Heaven just got themselves another harp player. What a band they have now!
I'll never forget what you've taught me, Sammy! Now you can blow all you want, and even hit those skins. Pick up the trumpet from time to time, if Gabriel will turn loose of it!
