Sam, you have joined that great choir that sings for the Lord now. Joe talked so many times of y'all working together at MIB. Thank God for your wonderful friends.

Sam wrote his own epitaph on “Which way is Texas” Those of us who knew him well, know what he was saying. It’s what caused me to love him.

You might think that I’m just an overgrown kid.
Carrying on, like I always did. I’ll never change,
I’ve been told. Once you grow up,
there’s nothing left to do but grow old.

Please don’t turn this “child” away from heaven.

Good bye, my friend.

Sam, I miss your face, but I can look at your picture on my screensaver. I miss your music, but I can pop in a cd. But what I really miss is that s--t eating grin you would get on your face when you were about to spew forth some of your sly dog humor. THAT is what I'll miss, that and so much more. Rest in peace Sweet Sammy.

Vicky

Sammy, You know you were the most cantankerous fool to ever grace a stage but we loved you anyway.

Remember what you told me. "There ain't nothin' wrong with a man goin' home as long as his house is clean". I know it's out of context to your original meaning but it still fits. You are now in the cleanest house there is.

I'll see you later. Keep the floor swept.

Terry

Sam,
I am honored to have had the chance to see you sing and play. You are now Blues legend. You will live on through the recordings you have left us, and also in our hearts. My condolences to all of Sam's family, and to the Funderburghs, too.
Rest in Peace, Sam.
