you call him "Nibisco" Do the camel's
coke's and coconut bars taste sweeter.
Maybe a little Jack in the Coke, would
be nice.Your friends in Jackson told
on you, fingers,is gonna pick you up
in the "tootse roll", I called the
drunken irish man McCabe,he said you

Hey there, our sweet Sammy.
Sheriff here.
I'm Still here. I know your shooting the shit with me dad and the many that left the world before you. Cause I know you got the stories to tell.
Our home will never be the same without you. Hard to eat without you here to share the food.
On the way to put you next to your mom the sky cried OOOOH did the sky cry.
Of course we were a little late for the 5:00pm time we were to lay you to rest. You always said it's okay to be just a little late.
Then the sun came out just like you.
Your had a way of being the SUN like the Blue Sky and the COOL WATER that you were was with us.
I just want the world to know what an assume person you are and I say you are because you are still here in my heart.
Yes the rest of the world knows you for your music I feel that you were my friend FIRST and all the other was a great bonus. BUT I know what you did.
I got to see it 1st hand.
That's why I put up with you so much. I never went to a gig that you did not say something about whom ever was in the bar. The one thing that you made sure of was to acknoalge the people in the room ----- You made us feel special and you never never never left us out!!!!!!
I loved how you loved to eat & so do I. That's one thing we shared and I never heard a bad word from you when it came to food you cherished the fact that your friends made food for you and you always called me and said - I did not leave much but come down NOW if you want to taste it cause it will be gone soon.
Those of you that know how much Sam loved his Old VHS Westerns I say the joke that was between Sam and I. Tonto I Said Possy.
Sam, Sheriff's gota go now.
Got to check on things. Love the fact that you let me into your life.
I am thankful for the friends you shared with me. I will see you when I go and I look forward to the new stories and the new friends.

We are unexpectedly caught in hearing about Sam's passing. Oh, we will miss his strong, gorgeous musicianship and his heartful smile and personality. I will always remember our conversations just about "life" in general.
He is now in "blues heaven" with some greats and they are having a hell of a party as we suffer down here in hell, and I mean that literally.
It was great getting to know you Sam, we love you and will miss you!

Sam and Anson and the band played a club I was involved in for a couple of years. I'd know Anson since Dallas Alley was open in the 80s and we crossed paths many times. When I had the club over the past couple of years was the first time I really got to hear Sam and Anson and the Rockets - I did sound for them everytime they played the club. I was always surprised by what Sam would come up with and the power in his voice and harmonica parts and the time he took to go the 15 feet from the couch where he sat to the stage. Sometimes it would take 10-15 minutes it seemed. He will be missed in the blues community as Sam and Anson worked together for so many years and had such an incredible act together. The REAL blues. That will be missed and another legend leaves us which cannot be copied in any shape or form in the same way. I am now working with Eric Burdon who is a great blues singer who studied the great blues legends and promoted their music such as John Lee Hooker, Jimmie Witherspoon and others. He is possibly the greatest English blues singer and of course has an incredible history as well. I am honored to be on the same planet as all of these folks...
